STL BOUG Steering Committee
Did you know that the Business Objects User Group in St. Louis is hosted and maintained by a small group of St. Louis based Business Objects professionals like you? They volunteer their time throughout the year to develop the content and structure for our user group meetings. Here is a little more information about our small team.
Bud Stewart - Bio coming soon!
Bret Martin
I am a consultant with Sense Corp and I specialize in helping clients make better business decisions
through effective Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. I have spent the past 5 years helping develop
these solutions within the Business Objects tool suite and have done everything from BO administration
to Universe development to front end reporting in Crystal, Web Intelligence, Xcelsius, etc. Prior to
working for Sense Corp I worked in the IT department at AG Edwards/Wachovia/Wells Fargo and received
an undergraduate degree from Bradley University and an MBA from St. Louis University. In my spare time I
enjoy reading, listening to music, playing tennis, running, riding my motorcycle, chasing my kid
around, travelling to remote locations for work, playing fantasy football, watching movies, and
writing obnoxiously long lists of things I enjoy doing.
Sheila Ryan
As an established Educational Services Manager, Sheila Ryan has proven experience and knowledge in project management,
curriculum development and course delivery, in addition to, developing and leading project team staff intent on
achieving excellence in the evaluation, creation, installation and delivery of product and education.
By participating in many technical projects, Sheila has obtained vast knowledge in the Business Objects
suite of software, including but not limited to universe design, report development and security implementation
providing real-world examples during training delivery. With over 14 years as a Business Objects professional,
Sheila has worked with Fortune 100 and 500 organizations across many vertical markets.
Jamie Oswald
Jamie Oswald started working in business intelligence almost 10 years ago with a strong emphasis in delivering
reports to end users. His technical experience ranges from querying and analysis to the presentation layer,
but he has also found time to work in operational, administrative, business analysis and project management
roles. The ability to speak in both technical and business terms, combined with a willingness to provide
the right solution (and not necessarily the requested solution), has made Jamie stand out throughout his
career. Educational milestones include holding masters degrees in both Business Administration and
Information Management from Washington University in St. Louis, affording him both real world and
theoretical points of view. Currently employed by Sisters of Mercy Health System, Jamie has previously
worked from both the customer and partner perspective and has provided solutions for small to large
companies in varied industries. When not working, Jamie spends his time adoring his wife, alternately
being amazed and flummoxed by his children, and torturing himself as a fan of Cleveland sports (although
he can comfortably say “Go Birds!”).
Eric Vallo
Eric Vallo has been working in business intelligence for almost 12 years, with other emphasis on web
technologies and enterprise architecture. He has had a career which has spanned Fortune 50 and 500
companies, as well as small businesses, working in telcommunications, finance, health care, and government.
After a number of years as an application developer, he moved into architecture and leadership roles, which
has afforded the opportunity to work with many different teams at different levels, creating business
intelligence solutions for tens of thousands of users. Most recently, Eric has formed a new company,
EV Technologies, Inc., with a focus on Business Objects SDK integrated products and business intelligence
consulting. Recent accomplishments include the completion of EV Technologies first product, Sherlock - CMS
Inspector, and completion of his first Business Objects certification. While not hanging out on the
bleeding edge, Eric spends his time with his wife and two children and enjoys cycling (whenever everybody
will let him get away).
